Patrick Dea '02

Patrick Dea '02 passed away in April 2024.

"Patrick attended Blessed Sacrament Grammar School in the Park Hill community of Denver. He graduated from Regis Jesuit High School in 2002. Patrick continued his education and graduated from the University of Colorado in 2006 with a degree in Spanish and Business. While attending C.U., Patrick spent his junior year abroad in both Madrid and Barcelona, Spain. It was during this time he acquired a love of travel and curiosity of the world and its rich cultures. Following graduation, Patrick moved to Buenos Aries, Argentina, where he worked as an interpreter for small local businesses. While living in South America, he traveled the continent immersing himself in the culture by trying local cuisine and making new friends wherever he landed. After a year abroad, Patrick returned to Denver and pursued a career in business. During his eighteen-year career, Patrick worked as a consultant and implementer of software for Service Now, Deloitte & Touche, and KPMG. Although he worked hard at his craft, Patrick’s greatest love was traveling the world. Those who knew him well have said that he packed more experiences in his 40 years than most people do in a lifetime. Always the adventurer, Patrick climbed Machu Picchu, Peru, rode by donkey through the ruins of Petra, Jordan, explored the outback of Australia, visited the sanctuary of endangered elephants in Thailand, discovered the untapped regions of Mexico, bartered with local crafters in Istanbul’s crowded markets, and traversed the beautiful landscape of South Africa, including photographing Kruger National Park while on a wildlife Safari. Patrick’s travels were not always in search of new adventure. He traveled to Haiti, volunteering to aid Haitian victims of natural disasters, and while in South America, he taught English as a second language to the local Spanish-speaking community. While Patrick is no longer with us, his legacy of love for family and friends, his extraordinary sense of humor and his curiosity of the vast unexplored world lives on in the many lives of those he touched. Patrick was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend to many. He will always live in our hearts and will be deeply missed. May Patrick’s memory be eternal."
