We are a Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory high school serving more than 1700 young men and women in grades 9-12 in becoming Men and Women with and for Others.
With nearly 150 years of history behind us, we are a Roman Catholic educational community rooted firmly in the nearly 500-year-old model of Jesuit education, leading the way in preparing students for the 21st century.
Our unique educational model combines the advantages of single-sex instruction with opportunities for young men and women to collaborate, serve, pray and socialize together to form the whole person—mind, body and spirit.
The strength of Regis Jesuit is found in the depth and diversity of its broad community of students, parents and alumni who strengthen and share their gifts through a lifelong Raider experience.
The transformational student experience has been developed thanks to a long tradition of generous philanthropic support of our enduring educational mission.
Yesterday, we started off the day by doing a hike up to the ruins of an Incan granary in Ollantaytambo, which really was more of a straight upward climb. It was absolutely gorgeous, and completely worth the earlier wake up call! After that, we went over to the Ollantaytambo sacred archaeological sight, which was more stairs but also came with amazing views! We learned a lot about the Incan people and their way of life, which was super interesting for a history nerd like myself. We then went to the market in town to buy some souvenirs, and hopped on the van to head to Andahuaylas. On the way, we stopped at the market in Pisac, where they literally came over the loud speaker to say "The Americans are here!" We also stopped at a former hacienda for lunch where we ate delicious food and met some llamas (we named them Lloyd, Harry, and Butterscotch). We then made it to the Jesuit parish and retreat center in Andahuaylas, and did our orientation into the parish, had mass, dinner, and reflection!
Today, we are at San Ignacio de Loyola primary school in town, where we're playing with kids and helping with gym class. These kids are amazing! I'm super excited for the rest of the week coming up.
