Immersion Experience: New Mexico

DAY 0: Navajo Immersion, Vanderwagen, NM

Fr. Gary Menard SJ
With the help of Deer Hill Expeditions, twelve Regis Jesuit Seniors will spend a week visiting Spirit Farm near Vanderwagen, New Mexico, and learning about traditional Navajo farming and ecological practices.
Spirit Farm, in the Navajo Nation, works to "apply ancestral wisdom and integrate new solutions energized by nature." The farm provides experience and training to help people grow nutrient rich foods in the southwest high desert.

Regis Jesuit High School students participating in the Science course on "Sustainability: Environment, Economy, and Equity" will visit Spirit Farm to learn about the ways Navajo people have lived for centuries in the Desert Southwest.

We look forward to experiencing the beauty of God's Creation, the welcome of Navajo people, the rich cultural heritage, and the home-grown foods.
