Immersion Experience: Dominican Republic

DAY 5

Lowen DeBobes’25, Keira Muniz’25, & Sienna Passaglia’25
Being immerse and lots of work
Yesterday we hiked around the jungle to find a “waterfall”, which took us an hour to find, but we finally made it and it was worth the 5 mile hike. We saw donkeys, horses, and cows during this treck. Just as we had the other days, we rode up to work in a Dominican pick up truck, which took us up the big mountain so we could work on the aqueduct. We worked alongside the Haitians. Some of us covered the pipes and some of us dug the trench for the pipes to go in. After lunch we went to see “Los pupees”, (puppies). They were very cute. Then some of us played soccer with a basketball, some played dominos while we all ate fresh sugar cane. We then went on the truck again to go see a local coffee farm with a beautiful view of a lake. We walked around town, than went back to our host families and showered to get ready for the final fiesta!!
