Immersion Experience: Denver

DENVER IMMERSION DAY 4 PART 1

Madisyn Jokerst
Laughing and making memories
I had many wonderful experiences at the Tennyson center. Although we were only here for three days it was one of the best times ever. One specific one was with one of the girls. Not many of them have been listened to, and this brings complications. Being able to talk and hear her story was very meaningful. Seeing that she trusts me with this information meant a lot to me. We were able to grow and develop an amazing relationship. Playing a bunch of card games especially Spot It. Laughing and making memories together that I will remember for a very long time. I told her that today was my last day with volunteering, and she was very sad. I wish I would be able to come back every day and help. She then asked to give me a hug. This resonated with me because a simple gesture such as a hug can change everything. I hope I will be able to come back soon and grow the relationships that I have started these past couple days.
