Michael "Mike" Tynan '67

Michael "Mike" Tynan '67, son of James '44, also deceased, and brother of Peter '71, passed away on August 9, 2024. Mike had a tremendous legacy at Regis Jesuit with many uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who also attended Regis Jesuit.

"Mike was a beloved family man, die-hard Bronco fan, father, brother, grandfather and cherished member of his community. Known for his unwavering faith and vibrant charisma, Mike left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His infectious humor and generous spirit brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. Michael, born on June 6th, 1949 was the proud son of Mary Jo and James Tynan. He enjoyed family life with his four siblings Carol, Joan, Pete, and Mary, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends nearby. Their home life was a happy one, where Mike was the constant support to each of his siblings and the one who always was working to keep the peace! He was known for saying, 'just agree with mom and dad now, we will get away with it later!' A proud Raider from Regis High School class of 1967, Michael excelled at Track and Field running the 100 meter dash, as well as being the social butterfly of the class. He attended college at Regis University where he graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts, and Psychology degree. While at Regis College he developed lifelong friendships, served as President of the Italian Club, a language no one recalls him speaking, and earned the prestigious title of Man of the Year in 1971. Upon graduation, Mike began his dedicated career of 40 years to Tynan’s Volkswagen and Nissan. Mike was not just an exceptional businessman and car dealer, but a trusted friend to many in the industry and the Denver community. His ability to connect with others and his genuine care for their needs made him a standout leader in his field and inspirational business partner. It was at Tynan’s that Mike would meet his loving wife of 49 years, Angela Sue Batchelor. Angela and Mike would become married, after a bit of convincing on his part, on August 2, 1975. They would go on to have three amazing children, Casey, Meghan and John. Although the car industry was a rigorous one that demanded long days at the office, Mike would always make it a priority to watch his kids' sporting events. The family enjoyed many special vacations together with a yearly trip to Glendo, Wyoming as a treasured memory. Mike and Angela’s marriage was one that modeled for us all what true love looked like and what it means to love in both sickness and in health. Mike was able to enjoy his final years of life seeing his children as dedicated parents and supporting his grandchildren on the dance stage, in the pool, the basketball court or on the football or baseball field. Often the loudest cheerleader, even when he had on his oxygen, he was the first to provide a loving congratulatory hug or a 'you will get them next time” heartfelt message and encouraging pat on the back. This was always followed by a 'Love Ya.' His legacy of faith, humor, and kindness will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him." Click here to view the full obituary.

A Recitation of the Rosary will be held in his honor on Thursday, August 15 at 4:00 pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. A funeral service will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Friday, August 16 at 10:00 am with light snacks and beverages following the service.

We join the prayers of the community of Regis Jesuit with yours for the repose of Mike's soul and the consolation of his family and all those who loved him. May he rest in peace.
