Amy Mondragon
Amy Mondragon, mother of Daniel '79, passed away on June 22, 2024.
"Amy was born in Branson, Colorado to Joseph and Della Basquez on July 24, 1933. After graduating from Holy Trinity High School in Trinidad, Colorado in 1952 she moved to Denver where she worked for years at the AT&T phone company. In 1994, she retired after 22 years of service to the State of Colorado and the legislature. She worked in the Legislative Drafting Office and Legislative Legal Services helping to ensure new Colorado laws were efficiently and accurately prepared for the citizens. The members of the Chambers honored Amy with these words: “In 1972, Amy joined a small team of terminal operators who were responsible for keying in all computer information to create bills and build the statute database. Amy has been instrumental in formatting the Colorado Revised Statutes. Her accuracy, help, friendly smile, and enthusiasm will be missed.” Amy is survived by her husband, Rudy Mondragon of Wheat Ridge. On July 2nd they would have celebrated 64 years of marriage. Amy deeply loved and was dedicated to her husband and their two children, Daniel Mondragon and Monica Anthony. Amy enjoyed photography, dancing, art – especially the Impressionists, classical music, and would often be seen with a good book in her hands. Speaking of good books, Amy loved her time in the Archdiocese of Denver’s Catholic Biblical School, her teachers and fellow lovers of the Word. Amy lived her final years in an apartment at Mullen Home and at Mountain Vista where she was cared for by their dedicated and exceptional staff and where she helped care for the flowers on the grounds and votive lights in the chapel. She was always ready with a smile and a kind word for all who crossed her path. Amy’s was a successful life. By what measure? In good times and bad, she remained a dedicated and loving person. It is said that it is important to cherish the simple moments that bring joy – they are the true treasures of life to remember. Amy’s loved ones will long remember and cherish her many profound yet simple acts of love including her constant prayer for others." Click here to view the full obituary.
