FINAL WOW SPEAKER DELIVERS INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE

Retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Tracy LaTourrette took the audience of nearly a hundred on a fast and furious ride as she relayed her story at the final installment of this year’s Wisdom of Women Speaker Series. LaTourrette, who graduated from the Air Force Academy, shared how she never thought she would fly because she didn’t expect to pass the eye test, but how God had another plan for her. Her perseverance in overcoming barriers and sticktoitiveness in pursuing her goals saw her through to become the first female fighter pilot in Colorado, flying F-16s under the call sign Jackie O.
Using a multi-media presentation, LaTourrette shared the challenges fighter pilots face, including the physical exertion of pulling Gs and need to attend to multiple data points when flying a mission. The mother of three, including a current sophomore and incoming twins, stressed the importance of setting the other concerns of her life aside when preparing for a mission and how the last thing she would do in that process was to “put on the armor of God.” LaTourrette repeatedly advised the students to turn to God in their decision-making, essentially to do a gut check to ensure that God is there. She also recommended that students use the DOTT method (Do One Thing Today) to stay focused on making progress toward their goals as that has served her throughout her life.

Lt. Col. LaTourrette’s presentation was a wonderful way for us to close out this year’s Wisdom of Women Speaker Series. We intend to continue the series next school year. If you have a recommendation for a speaker, we would love to hear from you. Please contact communications@regisjesuit.com.
