REGIS JESUIT MARKS 25 YEARS OF FIRST FRIDAY MASS

Fr. Gary Menard, SJ, RJ Jesuit Community superior, with concelebrants Frs. Tom Rochford, SJ '64 and Eric Ramirez, SJ celebrated 25 years of First Friday Masses at Regis Jesuit on Friday, October 4, 2024! A nice crowd helped mark this milestone in a lovely liturgy where current and former members of the First Friday Choir provided wonderful music. After Mass, the congregation was treated to a delicious breakfast, sponsored by Mike '67 & Maureen Hendricks.
Hendricks and other parents at the time encouraged then RJ President Fr. Wally Sidney, SJ to institute First Friday at RJ back in 1999 as a way for fathers and sons to celebrate the Eucharist together. The tradition of First Friday Mass as a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is an ancient dedication for the Jesuits, dating back to the 13th century. A special plaque will hang in the back of the chapel commemorating the anniversary along with Fr. Wally and the First Friday Choirs who have made these Masses a beloved and longstanding school tradition.
