FRESHMEN WRAP UP VIA: FIRST-YEAR PROGRAMMING WITH CANNONBALL DAY

On Tuesday, May 14, the Class of 2027 rounded out their first year VIA programming with the ever-popular Cannonball Day. This annual tradition commemorates the beginning of St. Ignatius' conversion—being struck in the leg by a cannonball on May 20, 1521 during the Battle of Pamplona between the Spanish and the French which led to a lengthy convalescence and spiritual transformation. The event also marks the end of the student's first year at Regis Jesuit.
The day's festivities included a presentation by special guest Tanner Kalina, who spoke to the students about the Eucharistic Revival, as well as a special Mass for the entire Class of 2027 where RJ's Director of Pastoral Ministries, Fr. Eric Ramirez, SJ, shared Ignatius' incredible conversion story. Students had the opportunity to experience their own 'cannonball moments' by jumping into the pool cannonball style and launching cannonballs (a.k.a. water balloons) at the school's suit of armor "RJ Raider" in an attempt to hit it in the leg in honor of St. Ignatius. Watch Principal Jimmy Tricco get in on the fun! What a great way to enjoy brotherhood and sisterhood at RJ and celebrate the end of a spectacular first year.

Congratulations Class of 2027 on a great freshman year!
