VARSITY ICE HOCKEY WINS SEVENTH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

In an exciting on-ice matchup in front of packed stands at DU's Magness Arena on March 5, the No. 1 Varsity Ice Hockey Team defeated second-ranked defending State Champs Valor Christian 3-1 in the Class 5A CHSAA State Championship. Claiming their seventh title in program history and first since 2019, the team also delivered Coach Terry Ott his first title as head coach. Ott coached the Raider Hockey team as an assistant under longtime Head Coach Dan Woodley for more than a decade before assuming the reins in 2022.

Along with a stellar performance by goalie Easton Sparks '27 who shut down 23 of 24 shots on goal, Reece Peterson '24 put the Raiders on the scoreboard late in the second period, followed by empty-net goals by Parker Brinner '25 and Ian Beck '24 in the third to seal the victory. The team's coaches and players alike credit the hard work and camaraderie of this year's team for their achievements this season and the favorable outcome of this year's tournament.
