HOCKEY PROGRAM GIVES BACK AND SPREADS JOY TO THE COMMUNITY

Not only are the members of the Regis Jesuit Hockey Program asserting their dominance on the ice this season, evidenced by their 13-2 record, they have also demonstrated their strong leadership and commitment to living the mission through various opportunities to give back and share joy with community members in need.

The Varsity Team, currently ranked first in the CHSAA 5A and MaxPreps standings, held its 11th annual Teddy Bear Toss early in the season at Family Sports Center. They collected hundreds of stuffed animals—tossed onto the ice upon scoring their first goal in the game—to donate to the children suffering from illness at Children's Hospital Colorado. While visiting the hospital, team members also enjoyed making arts and crafts with some of the young patients receiving care. At one of their other games, the Raiders donned bright yellow capes, raising more than $3000 in support of the KickAshCancer Childhood Cancer Awareness Foundation, a non-profit whose mission is to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research. Through another activity supporting childhood cancer, the team sent video messages and signed hockey pucks to give to Osteosarcoma Warriors to support them during their ongoing battle with cancer. They even took to spreading joy on campus by making special homemade "good luck" treats and cards to deliver to fellow Raider athletes.

Members of the JV Hockey Team also took time to give back to their local community. They volunteered at Project Cure, an organization that donates much-needed medical supplies and equipment to doctors and nurses, in the fall. The team has two more events planned for this spring including the revitalization of a local neighborhood and a shoe drive.

We are incredibly proud of Head Coach Terry Ott and the Raider athletes for their commitment to supporting our community and the good work that they are doing both on and off the ice this season.

Way to be with and for Others, Raiders!
