Congratulations to the Cheer and Pom Teams on their outstanding performance at this year's 2024-25 CHSAA 2024 State Spirit Championships held on Friday and Saturday, December 13 and 14 at the Denver Coliseum. The Pom Team took sixth place out of 19 teams in the 5A Pom Division, narrowly missing the cut for the final round by .55 points. The Cheer Team also performed well placing ninth out of 22 teams in the highly competitive 5A All-Girl Cheer Division. Both teams are proud of their performance and are looking ahead to competing at Nationals in Orlando, FL. Poms is set to compete on January 31-February 2 followed by Cheer on February 7-9. Congratulations to the Varsity Football Team members selected to this year's CHSAA 5A All-State Team. The senior lineup includes Jace Filleman '25 and Grayson McPherson '25, each named to the Second Team, and Jack Larkin '25 and Kai Shelton '25, each earning Honorable Mention Honors.
Congratulations to the Girls Wrestling Team on their strong performance at the Eaglecrest Invitational on December 13 where they faced many of the top teams in the state. The team placed 18th out of 37 teams and had three wrestlers earn Top 10 finishes in their respective weight classes. In addition, the team celebrated a 36-30 win against rival Ponderosa this week as well as first wins for several new wrestlers including Evy Vera '28, Corrine Bludeau '28 and Anai Vera '25. Keep it up, Raiders, and good luck at the Northern Colorado Christmas Tournament on December 20 and 21 at the University of Northern Colorado.
This past weekend, the Varsity Hockey Team not only secured a 5-0 win but also hosted another hugely successful Teddy Bear Toss during their game against Ralston Valley on December 13 at Family Sports Center. This annual tradition of fans tossing new stuffed animals on the ice following the team's first goal is a fan favorite and one cherished by those battling illness at Children's Hospital during the Christmas season. The program is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support from friends, family, alumni and fans as they collected the most stuffies in the program's 11 years of hosting the toss!
When the Regis Jesuit Hockey Team skates out on the ice for its January 24, 2025 game against Cherry Creek High, they will wear yellow capes to honor 42 young people fighting childhood cancer. The players have already written messages of support to these teenagers with a rare bone cancer and recorded video messages that will be shown between periods at the ice rink. In a very practical way, they have become Men with and for Others.

Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Wrestling Teams on their strong performance at the Arapahoe Warrior Invitational on December 7 at Arapahoe High School. The boys team placed second out of 17 teams and the girls team placed 10th out of 21 teams. A huge shoutout to Remington Zimmerer '27 who took home the win in her division and also to the new wrestlers on both teams who are learning quickly and putting up points for the teams. Garrett Reece '25 began wrestling around the age of five, spurred on by two older brothers and his father, all of whom wrestled. When he was a little kid, he would tag along with his brothers to the wrestling room. Reece became the Colorado state youth champion multiple times, and he wrestled on the national scene where he was one of the better wrestlers in his age group even before coming to Regis Jesuit.
Boys Varsity Basketball's Eric Fiedler '26 earned a spot on The Denver Post's annual top 30 watch list for the upcoming 2024-25 season based on his strong performances in past seasons. Be sure to come out and support the Raiders as they compete this season. Read more in The Denver Post

The RJ Baseball program is offering four two-day youth baseball Christmas Camps for players in grades 5-8 this winter to work on all aspects of the game such as hitting, throwing and fielding while having fun and meeting other players. The camp is led by current Regis Jesuit coaches and players, along with a former RJ player with college and professional experience. Regis Jesuit is offering a one-day youth lacrosse clinic on Friday, November 29 for boys in grades six through eight who want to learn a new sport or further develop skills and techniques while having fun and meeting other players. Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Rugby Team on finishing fourth at the State Finals on November 2. In front of a home crowd in Lou Kellogg Stadium, the team narrowly and heartbreakingly missed out on a spot in the Finals by just one point in a tiebreaker. Solid gains were made on the 2023-24 campaign with the team garnering a last-second win against Monarch and several big wins over Valor Christian during the season. With six senior athletes graduating this spring, the Raiders look forward to improving their game during the spring rugby season as well as reloading their roster for another great fall season next year.
Congratulations to the two Varsity Field Hockey Team members who earned recognition on this year's 2024-25 CHSAA All-State Team. Midfielder Hailey Cornell '25 was selected to the Second Team and halfback Addie Von Steeg '25 earned Honorable Mention honors. Cornell and Von Steeg were also selected to the First and Second All-Conference Teams respectively. Teammates Izzie Golding '26 and Natalie Chilton '27 each received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors.
Congratulations to the Varsity Cheer Team who made their debut in the 5A All Girl Division at the Continental League Championship on November 14 at Ponderosa High School. The team is focused on working hard to improve for the upcoming State Championship taking place at the Denver Coliseum on December 13.

Congratulations to the Varsity and JV Pom Teams on their excellent performances at the USA Colorado Regional at ThunderRidge High School on November 2. The Varsity Team swept their divisions, earning a first-place finish in both the Varsity Medium Jazz and Varsity Medium Pom categories. The JV Team also scored exceptionally well, placing first in JV Jazz and fourth in JV Pom.
Congratulations to Braeden Focht '25 and Caleb Aex '25 of the Boys Varsity Cross Country Team on their strong performance at the 2024-25 Class 5A State Championships on November 2 at Norris Penrose Event Center. Focht came in 32nd place, crossing the finish line in 16 minutes, 15 seconds. Aex finished a minute behind Focht, finishing in 101st place. The No. 4 Raiders were dealt a disappointing 3-2 loss to No. 5 Kent Denver in their Quarterfinal matchup in the Class 5A State Tournament on October 31, ending their run for the State Title. Jane Rumpf '25 and Hailey Cornell '25 each earned goals in the first quarter to put the Raiders up by one early in the game. Congratulations to the No. 6 Boys Varsity Soccer Team on defeating No. 27 Denver South 5-0 in the first round of the Class 5A State Tournament on October 30. Jack De Simone '25 scored two goals along with Justin Ghiselli '25, Charles Sharp '25 and Stefan Zehnacker '25 who each added one to the scoreboard. Congratulations to the Varsity Cheer Team, who kicked off their competition season by earning a third-place finish in the Medium Varsity Game Day Division at the UCA/UDA Mile High Regional held at the Colorado Convention Center on October 26. Their overall score earned the team a bid to compete at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) in February. Catch the girls in action at their next Regional event on November 9, where they look to earn a bid in their traditional routine.
After a strong season, the No. 17 Varsity Flag Football Team ended its run in the inaugural Class 5A State Playoffs. They fell to first-ranked Mountain Vista on October 26 in round two of the tournament by a score of 56-7. The Raiders played well all season, earning an 8-9 overall record, including their first-round 20-0 victory over 16th-seeded Horizon on October 23. Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Volleyball Team on taking down Thunderridge High School 3-0 in their final regular-season game on October 29. The Raiders are riding high after this, their 11th consecutive win, improving their overall record to 16-7. The team, which is currently ranked in the Top 20 in the CHSAA standings, looks to compete in the 5A Regionals starting November 8-9.
Congratulations to the No. 4 Varsity Field Hockey Team on defeating No. 13 Poudre School District 6-0 in the first round of the Class 5A State Playoffs on October 28. The Boys Varsity Soccer Team won their eighth consecutive game—the fifth in front of a home crowd in Lou Kellogg Stadium. They defeated Castle View 3-0 on October 22 with goals from Rocco Berg '25, Charles Sharp '25 and Jack De Simone '25. Congratulations to the team for winning the League Championship and their impressive 12-1-2 record this season. Huge gratitude from the Raider Club Hockey Team to the family, friends, alumni and fans who supported our "Pink the Rink" event on October 19. The game—a rematch of the CHSAA State Championship Game against Valor Club Hockey—was made even more meaningful as we honored breast cancer survivors, remembered those lost to breast cancer, promoted awareness and encouraged screenings to help reduce breast cancer risk and improve breast cancer outcomes. Both teams performed well with the boys team finishing in fifth place and the girls team placing eighth. Congratulations to Girls Lacrosse Head Coach Crysti Foote and the U.S. Women's Lacrosse Team on winning the gold medal match and the first-ever World Box Lacrosse Championship Title. Coach Foote was an assistant coach for the team that competed this September in Utica, NY. The team, referred to as Team One, defeated Canada 10-7 in this inaugural matchup. The Athletic Office is pleased to announce Rick Wolf as the new head coach of the Girls Soccer program. Many in the RJ community already know Coach Wolf as the head coach of our Boys Soccer program. Coach Wolf brings 22 years of Jesuit coaching experience to the program, including the last 13 years leading the boys program.
The No. 1 Boys Varsity Tennis Team knocked off fifth-seeded Fossil Ridge in the 5A Team State Semifinals, continuing their perfect run in the tournament and remaining undefeated on the season. For the second straight year, the team will face No. 2 Cherry Creek in the State Championship game to battle for the State title. The Varsity Football Team celebrated a big 45-7 win over Fountain-Fort Carson during its annual Military Appreciation Game last Friday, October 11. Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams on their strong finishes at the Northfield Nighthawks Invitational in Central Park on September 21. The Boys Varsity Team earned an impressive third-place finish with a team score of 79. Setting a new course record with a 16:00.7 finish time, Braeden Focht '25 led the Raiders to win first place in the event followed by Caleb Aex '25 and Mason Saum '26 in 17th and 18th place respectively. The Girls Varsity Team finished in sixth place led by Zoe Small '26 and Keira Butler '28 crossing the finish line in 20th and 26th places.
Congratulations to Girls Varsity Volleyball's starting setter, Lucy Tricco '26, on earning her 1000th career assist during the game against Douglas County on September 24. Lucy joined the Varsity team as a freshman and has been an incredible asset to the team for the past three years. She credits her fellow teammates as well as new Head Coach Celeste Barker and the coaching staff for helping create a positive atmosphere for the team where the athletes are focused on working hard and improving skills while having fun.

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Flag Football Team on their season-opening 6-0 win against Grandview High School on August 17 at Legacy Stadium. Quarterback Naala Barnes '25 threw an impressive 131 passing yards, including the game-winning fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Catherine Eure '25. Eure was the game's leading receiver with three catches for 60 yards. Kaitlyn Buhler '28 was close behind with four passes for 42 yards. Regis Jesuit is one of 64 programs in Colorado hosting teams during its inaugural season as a CHSAA-sanctioned sport. Keep it up, Raiders!
Congratulations to Madisyn Jokerst '25 of the Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team who was selected as one of nearly 180 elite high school girls lacrosse players from across the country invited to participate in the USA Lacrosse National Team Development Program (NTDP) Combine on July 31-August 2. She was one of only four athletes from Colorado who were selected for the U18 pool.
After placing second in the 100-Meter Breaststroke with a personal-best 1-minute, 6.10-second time at the Olympic Trials in Indianapolis last month, Great Raider Emma Weber '22 is set to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics starting this week. This past Sunday, July 14, the 9NEWS Prep Rally invited Great Raider Hana Belibi's '24 on set to celebrate some of the top moments from her high school basketball career and discuss her future plans. Belibi was integral in helping the Girls Basketball team secure an impressive second-place finish in the Class 6A State Championships. In her senior year at RJ, she was recognized with the 2023-24 McDonald's All-American Award and was the recipient of this year's Missy Franklin Award, which honors the top senior female student-athlete for excellence. Congratulations to the four Boys Track & Field athletes who earned spots on Aurora Sentinel's All-Aurora Team for 2023-24. David Flaig '24 claimed honors for both the 1600-meter and 800-meter runs. Fellow distance runner Braeden Focht '25 was selected for the 3,200-meter run. In addition, Charlie Dutmer '25 earned recognition for the 300-meter hurdles and Michael Gambrill '26 earned Honorable Mention honors for the 200-meter dash.

These athletes are among the top 100 performers across the country who achieve the required standard in their respective races. Congratulations to three seniors, Gordon Reynolds '24, Jamie Rosenzweig '24 and Cal Schieffer '24, of the Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team on being selected as USA Lacrosse All-American and All-Academic honorees. Reynolds (defense) was selected as one of the nation's 500 best players recognized on the All-American list, while Rosenzweig (attack) and Schieffer (defense) earned recognition on the All-Academic list for exhibiting exemplary lacrosse skills, good sportsmanship on the field and representing high standards of academic achievement in the classroom.
The Denver Post recently released its 40-man All-Colorado Baseball Team for the 2023-24 season determined by statistical analysis, a player’s relative value to team success and coaches’ feedback. Head Coach Matt Darr and the No. 2 Varsity Baseball Team had another spectacular season going 22-8 on the 2023-24 season and finishing as 5A State Runners-Up! The Raiders were undefeated early in the playoffs series, including a 3-0 win over No. 5 Cherry Creek, which earned them a bid to the 5A State Championship games at All Star Park on June 1. The Bruins fought their way back in the Consolation Round to defeat the Raiders 11-1 and 5-2 in back-to-back Final rounds to claim the State title. The No. 7 Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team was dealt a disappointing 13-3 loss by the No. 3 Valor Christian Eagles in the Semifinal round of the CHSAA 5A State Championship held on May 18, ending their season and run for the 2023-24 State Title. Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Tennis Team on another solid season. The team advanced all seven lines to the CHSAA 5A Individual State Championships on May 9-10 at Denver City Park in which five of the seven lines won their first-round matchups and advanced to the Quarterfinal round. The No. 3 Singles player Otylia Martino '26, as well as both the No. 1 Doubles Team of Brenna Radebaugh '24 and Lucy Filippini '24 and No. 4 Doubles Team of Helen Adams '26 and Elise Holt '24, went on to compete in the Playback Semifinal match but eventually lost in close matchups ending their shot at a third-place finish.
Congratulations to our Girls Rugby student-athletes! Members of our Girls Rugby program joined with students at Denver East to form a combined club that competed in the 2024 Colorado 15s Championship on May 11 at Infinity Park in Glendale, defeating Highlands Ranch 36-7 to earn the win. This is the first Championship that Regis Jesuit Girls Rugby players have been a part of.

Good luck to the Varsity Baseball Team as they compete in the Class 5A Regional Tournament today, May 17 on our home field. The No. 2 Raiders, which finished the regular season with a 17-6 overall record, will face No. 31 Loveland High School and No. 18 Ponderosa High School. The RJ community held its last of three National Letter of Intent Signing Days on Wednesday, April 24. Fifteen Raiders signed their letters of intent to play at the collegiate level, bringing the total number of Class of 2024 signees to 44. In a special dedication ceremony held on April 25, 2024, Regis Jesuit named the pool in honor of Class of 2013 alumna and six-time Olympic medalist Missy Franklin Johnson ’13. Fr. Gary Menard, SJ blessed the pool in front of a crowd of Missy’s family and friends, school administration and members of the Girls and Boys Swim & Dive teams. Missy then surprised Hana Belibi ’24 by personally giving her the Missy Franklin Award, awarded annually to the senior female student-athlete of excellence. At the dedication ceremony, it was also announced that an endowed scholarship has been established in Missy's name with a gift from fellow alum John Sheridan ’76. Sheridan was chair of the Regis Jesuit Board of Trustees during Missy’s high school years and witnessed first-hand the positive impact she had on the school community. Following the ceremony, Missy participated in a Q&A session with RJ Media at a special all-school assembly. Congratulations to Austin Stevenson '27 who recently competed and placed second all-around in the 2024 USA Gymnastics Region 9 Level 10 Championship on April 7 at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. This is a qualifying event for the 2024 Men’s Development Program National Championships held in Daytona, FL on May 7-12, where top gymnasts from each region will compete on an individual level for the National Title. Austin’s second-place finish qualified him to represent and compete on the 10-man Region 9 Team at this event.

In an exciting on-ice matchup in front of packed stands at DU's Magness Arena on March 5, the No. 1 Varsity Ice Hockey Team defeated second-ranked defending State Champs Valor Christian 3-1 in the Class 5A CHSAA State Championship. Claiming their seventh title in program history and first since 2019, the team also delivered Coach Terry Ott his first title as head coach. Congratulations to the No. 1 Varsity Ice Hockey Team on defeating No. 4 Monarch 5-2 in the 2023-24 5A State Frozen Four matchup on Saturday, March 2 at South Suburban Sports Complex. Nolan Williams '25 netted two for the team. Teammates Ian Beck '24, Parker Brinner '25 and Harry Sorensen '25 each scored one goal. In a thrilling overtime matchup, the No. 10 Boys Varsity Basketball Team ended their run for the 2023-24 Class 6A State Title after suffering a disappointing 70-61 upset to No. 7 Smoky Hill in the Sweet 16 matchup on February 27. A shoutout to the top-scoring Raiders Damarius Taylor '24 and Eric Fiedler '26 who had another strong performance, earning a combined 39 points for the team. Congratulations to the No. 7 Girls Varsity Basketball Team on downing No. 2 Cherry Creek 50-44 in the Quarterfinals on February 29 at the Denver Coliseum, earning a spot in the CHSAA 6A State Final Four. Coryn Watts '24 led the team with 17 points, followed by Hana Belibi '24 with 11. The Raiders advance to the Semifinals where they will take on No. 3 Legend High School next Thursday, March 7 at 7:15 pm. This is the team's first appearance in the Semifinals since 2021. Scoring a hat trick for the Raiders, Vincent Cieslak '25 put three shots past the goalie while Luke Damrath '24, Reece Peterson '24, Zachary Lorenzo '25 and Avery Osgood '25 each netted one to help the Raiders advance to the Semifinals. Congratulations to the five wrestlers of the Boys Varsity Wrestling Team who competed at this year's 2023-24 Class 5A State Tournament on February 15-17 at Ball Arena. The team earned an overall 11th-place finish. A special shoutout to State Champion Garrett Reece '25 who claimed the victory in the 150-pound category, securing a spot on the Class 5A All-State First Team. Congratulations to the Girls Wrestling Team on a strong season and a solid performance at this year's 2023-24 Girls Wrestling State Tournament held on February 17 at Ball Arena. Three members of the team, Alexis Segura '24, Jordynn Shannonhouse '26 and Remington Zimmerer '27, qualified to compete at the State Tournament and earned an overall 22nd place out of 104 teams. Two wrestlers, Segura and Zimmerer, each earned medals in their respective weight classes; Segura earned a fourth-place finish while Zimmerer took sixth place. We are proud of you, Raiders!

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Swim & Dive Team on a spectacular second-place finish at this year's State Tournament on February 7-9. A special shoutout to divers Maya Kriz '24 and Sarah Mann '24 who kicked off the tournament earning second- and third-place finishes respectively in the 1-Meter Dive Championships. Defending State Champion Charlotte Burnham '24, took the repeat win in the 100-Yard Breaststroke, making her a two-time State Champion in this event. Highlighting their accomplishments this season, Burnham was named the Swimmer of the Year and Coach Nick Frasersmith earned Coach of the Year for the 2023-24 season. We are proud of you, Raiders! Congratulations to the Girls Swim & Dive Team on their strong fifth-place finish at the Continental “A” League Championships held on February 2-3. The team was buoyed by the 1-Meter diving team, led by Sarah Mann '24, who edged out teammate Maya Kriz '24, to repeat as League Champion. In recognition of her incredible performance, Mann was also awarded the 2023-24 Continental League Diver of the Year.
On January 12-15, five teams from Jesuit schools across the country joined with the Regis Jesuit Club Hockey Team to take part in the 2024 Jesuit Cup Classic, an annual tournament hosted each year at a different Jesuit school showcasing both friendly on-ice competition and camaraderie amongst fellow Jesuit school athletes.
Congratulations to both the Boys and Girls Wrestling Teams on their strong finishes at their recent competitions. The boys team traveled to California on January 12-14 to compete in the Five Counties Invitational where the team placed 17th out of 82 teams, with Garrett Reece '25 securing the win in the 150-pound weight class. The girls team competed at the Tournament of Knights, tying for fifth place out of 21 teams. Alexis Segura '24 and Remington Zimmerer '27 both placed first in their respective weight classes. Congratulations to Girls Varsity Basketball's Hana Belibi '24 on her nomination to the girls roster for the 2024 annual McDonald’s All-American Games. She was selected as one of 724 boys and girls players across the US to be selected to play in the games scheduled for April 2 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
