SHEPHERDS OF KC

by Emma Honney '25, Avery Stanga '25, Alex Kaltenbach '25
Adventures in goats, honeysuckle, cooking and compost. ft chicken
Today Emma and Avery started their morning with community member, Tommy. We planned on feeding the goats, but we ended up having search for the goats instead because they went missing. Utilizing Mr. Powell's hunting expertise, we herded the goats back to their home. Then we weeded a forest and pulled some giant honeysuckle out of the ground.
I (Alex) started the day by aerating compost to help it decompose. We then moved on to cutting down raspberry plants to prepare them for the winter. We got a break to prepare dinner which was pizza. I made the dough!
Guess what!!! WE GOT DONATED CHICKEN, and everybody got one chicken leg. First meat of the week!
As we prepare to finish this immersion, we are very excited to come home. We are very grateful for the experiences and friendships we have shared. We are all planning on bringing this back into our lives and our RJ community.
