DAY ONE: Chicano Pride

By: Mason Marshall & Callen Wolf
Today was the first day on our immersion trip. Despite the little amount of time we have been here, we've already grown so much as a group and the anticipation for the following days are growing.

One aspect of our trip that has impacted us is the culture and how it structures not only the environment but the lasting effects of peoples work. On our visit to Chicano Park, our tour guide Victor guided us through the meaning of the murals painted around the area. He went deeper to discuss how the art is a way to express Chicano pride. This experience allowed us as a group to bond and look at the art together, understanding what it truly means to learn about someone else's culture.

As this is only our first day here, we are both extremely excited to see what the future holds for us. We are expecting to grow together as a group and as family.
